Travel Marquette

Hi Everyone! Yesterday, I had the opportunity to hangout with a bunch of locals on a tour (called "OUR VOICE"), hosted by Travel Marquette. The weather was amazing! Blue skies, snow covered hills and trees, and good company. The tour was by bus, showcasing some of the local businesses that cater during the winter season.

Our first stop was Jacksons Pit, located on Iron Street in Negaunee, Michigan. Since I am from Negaunee, I have to say they have the best food in town. And if you go on a weekend, chances are there will be a live band. Great place to get a feel of a modern restaurant in an Old Town.

We were spoiled by their amazing food. Deep fried mushrooms and hot-wings (perfection), burgers, and nachos, and root-beer shooters! Yes, I said got to try it.

Next, we hopped back on the bus, and drove towards Ishpeming, along the Iron Ore Heritage Trail route. We drove by the Ishpeming Ski Jump and continued to the Ski Museum. If you haven't been there, go! You would be in awe of the collection of ski's they have from the early 1900's and beyond. This area is full of history in the towns, but also in outdoor recreation.

I ponder on how lucky we are to live in this community. Travel Marquette's passion is to showcase our awesome community...and they invite locals to share their passion and see winter as an asset. Marquette County is a winter destination offering many trails for fat bikes and snowmobiling, ski jumping, Marquette Mountain, hockey...basically a winter parades. It gives us the opportunity to celebrate winter 6 months out of the year.

I enjoyed spending the day with Travel Marquette. This is a tour they will be offering again, showcasing more local businesses. Contact Travel Marquette for future dates!
